Kyle Jardine “Please be Seated”
Solo one room exhibition an MeNU – You&I Gallery Kloof Nek.
My work & current exhibition “ please be seated “ Is influenced by the things that surround me in my everyday Life. I’m fascinated by history, antiques & architecture. I’m a huge lover of heritage homes & the stories the walls have to tell. I am also a big lover of fashion, costume
design, theatre ( where I worked as a professional performer) & of course the subtle element of story telling.
Creating eclectic scenes filled with detail, mysterious characters, prints & pops of colour! The style of these works have previously been described as sets, which in hind site makes total sense. The stage is set & the plot unravels.
All these elements combined make up the mystery of a scene… Allowing you to decide for yourself what’s unfolding before your eyes.

I have always had a passion to create, now I had found how I could marry my hatred of conditioning with my love of art.
My work is colourful and figurative mostly portraying female semi-nudes in a variety of playful stances. These images are applied in thick, monochrome colour on large surfaces, couched in prominent black outlines.

As I search for meaning through concepts and images unfolding from my mind and fingertips, I find reality constantly shifting and new layers of truth exposed for deconstruction, and if the search for meaning gets too heavy, I just paint for fun.
