I am Mo Nique, also known as Monique Koning, a South African Artist with Dutch heritage. I grew up in Eastern Cape, South Africa, and later lived in the Netherlands for 17 years before returning to South Africa. Currently, I am once again residing in the Netherlands. Throughout my artistic journey, I have focused on various subjects, including Floral Bouquets, Landscapes, and more recently, Portraits. My artworks have garnered international recognition, with a significant portion of sales occurring in South Africa, the USA, and Europe. I prefer working with oil paint due to its softness, transparency, and the fascinating way different colours blend. This medium allows me to express myself through bold and self-assured brushstrokes. I enjoy experimenting with both brushes and palette knives, exploring a range of styles and techniques without hesitation.
