About the Artist

I’ve been an artist all my life, painting and dancing for as long as I can remember. In addition to being a South African artist, I’m also a classically trained ballet dancer and have performed all over the world. Painting and dancing have always gone hand in hand for me—they are my lifelong creative outlets, and each continues to influence the other.

As a longtime Francophile, I’m fluent in French and have deeply studied and loved the Impressionists. My paintings often reflect my lifelong practice of ballet and my travels to rural France, where the charm of small villages and the beautiful light—so beloved by artists over the centuries—inspire much of my work.

Over the past 25 years, my paintings have become highly sought after internationally. I’m represented by several prominent galleries in South Africa, Europe, and America, and I’ve had the honour of presenting my work in solo and group exhibitions, as well as participating in international art residencies. I’m also the in-house artist at Linear Design, an interior design company based in Cape Town, which gives me the unique opportunity to blend my passion for painting with my love of interior design. Currently, my work is on display in Cape Town at Roche Bobois Paris in De Waterkant.

My paintings have found homes in private collections around the world, including the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, Europe, the UK, and Australia. I’m especially proud that both the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Johannesburg and Prince Harry have my work in their collections.

I was born in Pretoria and later lived in Cape Town, South Africa. Today, I live in Dallas, Texas, with my family and grandchildren, though I frequently return to Cape Town to paint and find renewed inspiration from my homeland.

I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Pretoria, where I studied Painting, Sculpture, Graphic Design, Ceramics, History of Art, European Culture and Art History, and Archaeology. I also trained in dance in France, England, and New York. I’m the founder and former director of Gaia Dance Project for the Arts and Dance, a contemporary ballet company. Over the years, I’ve received international awards for choreography and have taught both art and dance for more than 40 years.
