I grew up on a farm in Plettenberg bay. From an early age I was building my own toys. I remember building a wooden truck and using the couourful batteries and stuff that use to be in the back of an old radio.
My dad was extreamly open minded for an afrikaans farmer and alway let me be me. I designed my own bedroom and painted everyting myself.
I made my own matric farewell dress. So after matric I headed off to Cape Town to study fashion design. After studies there where a bit of a crash in the fashion industry so not many jobs available to a fresh out of college student.
So I started my first decor store in 1994. It was basiclly the first decore store in Cape Town. I made almost everything I sold in the beginning.
I painted a few things but my art was mainly digital or blowing my photos up on canvas to sell.
I ended up having 3 stores. After COVID I closed my last store and concentrated on my wholesale only.
I had so much more time on my hands so decided to give painting a go.
I totally fell in love with painting and I think I have an advantage as I come from interior design.
Painting everyday is something that makes me so happy and excited I feel anything is
possible. Because of my dad I always think I can do anything. He always believed in me and my weirdness.
