I started painting after I retired in 2013. After a trip to Prince Albert via the Outeniqua Pass I realized that photographs didn’t rekindle the emotions of the moment. So I hoped art would.
And I felt a bit flat after 40 years of work! I needed a new focus and a new passion. Art provided that. I started painting at Blue Planet in Muizenberg and discovered a realm of creativity fired by an amazing circle of artists led by Anastasia Sarantinou.
I paint in acrylics and have developed a style which was inspired by the Australian painter, Liam Murphy. I enjoy the challenge of seeing a landscape through colour and angles and presenting the scene in a recognisable but interpretive manner.
There is a special thrill in seeing my work on display and such a feeling of achievement when someone buys a canvas.
